Matthew 1:21

  • And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Jesus came to save his people from their sins.


How can I get saved from my sins?

Romans 1:16

  • For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Salvation comes by the Gospel of Christ.

 

What is the Gospel?

1 Corinthians 15:1-4

  • Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
  • By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
  • For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
  • And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Christ died for our sins. He was buried. And he rose again.

The gospel is the DEATH, BURIAL, and RESURRECTION of Jesus Christ.


How important is the Gospel?

2 Thessalonians 1:6-9

  • Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;
  • And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
  • In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
  • Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

People who do not obey the Gospel are going to be punished with everlasting destruction.

 

How do I obey the Gospel?

Well, the gospel has three parts. We must obey each one.

 


How do I obey His death?

Romans 6:1-2

  • What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
  • God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

We are not dead in our bodies, but we are dead to sin. We have turned away from our sins not to do them any more.

This is called REPENTANCE.
 


How do I obey His burial?

Romans 6:3-4

  • ​Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
  • Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

We are buried by baptism in water.

Since we are buried with Jesus, we must be BAPTIZED in the name of JESUS.
 


How do I obey His resurrection?

2 Corinthians 3:6

  • Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

We receive new life by the Spirit.

Receiving His spirit is called the BAPTISM of the HOLY GHOST.


We started this Bible study with the question, "How can I get saved from my sins?"
On the day of Pentecost some people realized that they needed to be saved from their sins.
They asked the question, "What shall we do?"
Peter answered their question by preaching the gospel in Acts 2:38.

  • Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

The Gospel is...

  1. Death
  2. Burial
  3. Resurrection

Acts 2:38 says to...

  1. Repent
  2. Be baptized
  3. Receive the Holy Ghost

Thank God for His grace to provide us with such a simple way to be saved from our sins!
Simply obey the Gospel.
